Choosing the Correct Blade Band saw Blades

TPI

TPI is the number of teeth per inch or 25.4mm. Cutting thinner sections requires a finer TPI (more teeth per inch). Thick sections require a coarser TPI (fewer teeth per inch). The charts are excellent guides because the cross section limits in the chart are broad and overlap. Choose a coarser TPI if the speed of cut is most important or a finer TPI if the finish is your priority.

For cutting tubes and profiles, use the horizontal line to find the outside diameter (tube) or the largest section (profile). Find the thickness (tube/profile) using the vertical column. With that information, cross both figures to find the recommended pitch using the chart below.
